Flashback…

Grandy Mandy helped us get our gardens established.  She taught us the importance of compost.  It does make a garden grow!  Here are a few shots from back in early August.  Will loves to water the garden.

Here are the pumpkins just after they sprouted.  We started them from seed.IMG_4405

IMG_4398 IMG_4397The garden along the fence (behind Will in the above three pictures) has herbs, lettuce, radishes, peas and green beans.  We’ve enjoyed our green beans tremendously!  IMG_4395 IMG_4394

Look at the size of that green bean! IMG_4525

Look What We “Growed”

I looked out of our kitchen window at lunch time and spotted something amazing…

Can you see it yet?

At first, I thought David put it there as a joke.  I can’t believe we grew a pumpkin this big!!!  But sure enough, it was attached to the vine!  I felt it pop off when I gave it a tug.  Jack was so excited!  (I feel bad leaving Will out – he was there, but he didn’t seem as thrilled as Jack and I were…)IMG_4604

Jack explained to our neighbor that “the rain growed it.”  We took it to our front porch and attempted a cute photo.  Jack’s showing me his teeth after I asked them to smile.

Here are a few other shots of future pumpkins… hopefully!!  Did you know the pumpkin comes from the flower?  Neither did we!IMG_4607 IMG_4606 IMG_4605   Come pick a pumpkin from our patch!  We’d love to see you!

Handsome

Jack likes to pick out his outfits.  Yesterday, he was sporting this amazing knit vest.  The vest is an original by Phyllis Muir.  We are fortunate to have a designer in the family :)

Apple Picking at Carter Mountain

IMG_4579

We met Uncle Silly Willy in Charlottesville on Saturday to go apple picking at Carter Mountain.  We picked a variety of red and green apples.IMG_4577 IMG_4573 IMG_4571 IMG_4569 IMG_4566

Yum!  We’ve been enjoying apples all week :)

Our Precious Peacock!

I’m so excited for Halloween this year.  Jack has been talking about what he wants to be for months.  When Jack asks Will what he wants to be, Will has always responded, “Peacock.”  Really?  Where in the world did he get that?

Regardless, I love it!  I looked online for a peacock costume, and there were some amazing tu-tus and other girly costumes, and quickly realized I would have to do this myself.

Ta-da!  Our precious peacock!  There are a few finishing touches, but this is it for the most part.

Pam’s Weekend Visit

IMG_4520

Aunt Pam, or as Will calls her, Aunt Bob, came to visit last weekend. We had a lovely visit, if I do say so myself. Our pictures are in reverse. So, I’ll start with Sunday and go backwards too. On Sunday we drove to Washington, DC, which was Pam’s final destination for a conference. We took the Metro into town, which was probably the boy’s favorite part. We went to the Smithsonian, specifically Air and Space and Natural History. We saw dinos, rocks, and rockets. Three of Jack and Will’s favorite things!

On Saturday we went to Maymont Park. It was a beautiful fall morning! We need to go back because we only saw a portion of the park… I hear there is a petting zoo!
