Williamsburg

This weekend we took a morning trip to Williamsburg. Williamsburg is only a 45 minute drive from us. We took a lovely walk from the visitors center to the main part of Williamsburg. Jack and Will had a great time exploring. First they found huge leaves.

Then Will decided to join this nice lady on her jog. IMG_4453IMG_4454

Then Will discovered the rocks.

And the morning turned into Will’s search for the perfect rock. (For those who don’t know Will… he loves rocks. He has a favorite one that he would like to sleep with. But, I’m scared he will break the window that is over the bed with it. So, we made a special rock bed for his favorite rock and we keep it high up in his room. Will tucks his rock in a nap time and bed time, and even gives it a kiss goodnight. What a funny guy!)

The rock search continues…

You have no idea how my rocks I find in our laundry machine (I need to check his pockets now too)

Success! The largest rock in Williamsburg!

Jack said his favorite part of the morning was petting the horses. Will agreed with a, “Me too, Gack.” Gack = Jack in Will’s language.

My favorite part of the morning was when we stumbled upon a lady selling peacock feathers. Will has been saying he wants to be a peacock for Halloween. The boys each picked out a feather, and proudly strutted around Williamsburg with their tails out.

Lookout, Spidey, there’s a new Peter Pan in town!

Will has adopted Jack’s Peter Pan hat. Occasionally, Jack will still be Peter. But Will is seen in the hat more these days than Jack. That’s cool, because Jack is now Spiderman! (I just finished crocheting Jack’s hat! He loves it!)IMG_4446 IMG_4437

Feeling Stripey…

When I got to school today, Jack’s teacher said, “Oh how cute.  You and Will dressed alike.”  Whoops!  I didn’t even notice!  Aunt Nancy got the boys the cutest striped shirts (one for each, so I guess we could all 3 match if I were that on top of our laundry…).  I was so excited to put Will in it, it must have been on my brain.  We matched down to our navy shorts.

These pictures were taken by Jack.  Photography is just one of his many talents.

Saturday… In the Park

Richmond is full of beautiful parks.  This park, Deep Run, is one of our favorites.  There are awesome playgrounds, long, hilly running trails, fishing ponds, ducks, bike paths… perfect for two little boys and their parents!

Jack likes to fish, so David decided he should take up fishing too.  We got some worms, hooks, and a pole for David (thanks, Bailey, for Jack’s awesome cars pole!).  Will enjoyed the worms in the dirt.  These worms were the biggest, juiciest ever.  Sick!  Jack caught one catfish, which he was again scared of.  He prefers brim on his hook at the end of the day.

The thought of Will with a hooked fishing pole was too much for me to handle.  Good thing we threw his “bike” in the car so he could go round and round the lake.  IMG_4431 IMG_4428 IMG_4427 IMG_4426 IMG_4423 IMG_4422

News Flash!

I am clearly not cut out for any sort of regularity when it comes to blogging. I forget the camera, forget to blog, forget my purse, phone, anything and everything (except the boys... yet). That being said, I miss blogging! While I love Facebook to see what's going on in other peoples worlds, I don't like to update my status there. So, I'll blog my long winded status updates about mothering, cooking, crafting, etc.

My previous blog, currently being turned into a book, was focused on Jack and Will. This blog is going to be more about the year. Jack, Will, Marv, David, and me. Our family, our adventures, and our transitions. This year is a gift. It is hopefully the last phase in David's long schooling. Jack and Will are changing from toddlers into little boys. Its a glimpse into chaos, or a glimpse at my dreams coming true each day. The only thing constant is change.
